Flow with the River Tweed

Adventure Flows from Our Banks.

On the Water

Faldonside Eco’s location beside the River Tweed makes it the perfect base for water-based adventures in the Scottish Borders. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful paddle through quiet woodland sections or a scenic float past historic towns and wildlife-rich riverbanks, you’ll find it all right on our doorstep.

Paddle the Tweed Valley Canoe Trail

The Tweed Valley Canoe Trail offers a unique way to explore this iconic river. Paddle through winding stretches bordered by ancient woodland and rolling farmland, and keep your eyes open for otters, kingfishers, and herons. With easy access points and a mix of calm waters and gentle rapids, it’s ideal for beginners and seasoned paddlers alike.

  • Canoe hire & guided trips can be arranged locally.
  • Explore both upstream and downstream sections from our estate.
  • Enjoy a waterside picnic, or take a full-day tour.

Wildlife Encounters from the Water

Many of our resident species are best seen from the river. From the silent glide of a swan to the flash of a diving kingfisher, the Tweed reveals a different world when viewed from the water. You may also spot:

  • Otters playing along the banks
  • Sand martins nesting in the riverside cliffs
  • Brown trout rising in the shallows

Plan Your Experience

We can help you organise your river day:

  • Local canoe and kayak hire
  • Route recommendations for all abilities
  • Access to maps, safety advice, and eco-friendly trip planning
  • Picnic packs using fresh produce from our Walled Garden (pre-order only)
