Our Story

Who we are

Restoring land, growing food, and reconnecting people with nature in the Scottish Borders.

Our Story

Faldonside Eco

Faldonside Eco is a family-led rewilding and sustainability project based on a rural estate in the heart of the Scottish Borders, near Melrose and the River Tweed. Spanning three generations, our vision is rooted in restoration, organic growing, and regenerative land management.

A Living Landscape

We are working together as a family to restore the land and bring it back to life. From rewilding wildflower meadows to planting native hedgerows and restoring ancient woodland, our focus is on biodiversity, resilience, and balance.

Our location beside the River Tweed allows us to protect riparian habitats, improve soil health, and create natural spaces where wildlife can flourish.

The Walled Garden

At the heart of Faldonside Eco is our restored Victorian Walled Garden. This productive space is now a thriving organic market garden, growing seasonal fruit, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers using permaculture principles.

We don’t use synthetic chemicals. Instead, we build soil health naturally and grow food that supports both our family and the local community. Our produce is available through local restaurant partnerships and soon, through our online shop.

Learn, Reconnect, Rewild

Faldonside Eco is more than a place to grow food—it’s a space for learning, wellbeing, and community connection. We host a range of hands-on experiences for all ages, including:

  • Nature crafts and forest school sessions
  • Foraging walks and rewilding tours
  • Regenerative farming and eco-building workshops

These sessions help people reconnect with the land and take action for a more sustainable future.

Our Approach

We let nature lead. We listen, observe, and adapt. By working with natural systems, rather than against them, we’re building a regenerative model of land use that is sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.

Whether you’re visiting for a workshop, a wellbeing session, or a quiet walk in the woods, you’ll find a warm welcome and nature on your doorstep.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
